First of all, we need to know what it means to be self-employed. Self-employed is defined as someone who works for themselves as a freelance or the owner of a business rather than being employed. 

If you are self-employed, for example, you are an artist, an athlete, etc., the self-employed program lets you immigrate to Canada permanently if you:

• have relevant experience in cultural or athletic activities
• are willing to make a notable contribution to the athletic or cultural life of Canada

The fee for this kind of application is 2140 CAD (Canadian Dollar), and the processing time takes up to 46 months.

To qualify for the Self-employed Person Program, you must:

• Have at least two years of relevant experience in cultural activities or have been an athlete (either self-employed or of world-class status) in the past five years.

You can get more points if you have more than two years of experience.

Your experience at least must:

• Be self-employed in cultural activities for two one-year duration, or
• Take part in world-class courses in cultural activities for two one-year periods, or 
• Have a combination of 2 one-year of the two above-said items.

To be eligible, athletics must 

• Be self-employed in athletics for two one-year duration, or
• Take part in world-class courses in athletic activities for two one-year periods, or
• Have a combination of 2 one-year of the two above-said items.

• Get enough points in
  • experience
  • education
  • age
  • language abilities
  • adaptability
• Meet the conditions of health, security, etc.
